So Fay has left it's mark on Brevard county. Indeed I could say I have been part of a flood . Yes everything is shut down. Church, Work, Bible Study. Amazing how we can be going through life and bam two streight days of rain stops everything. I am glad God is in control and not us.

Ahh the quite respite of a Tuesday dinner party. Mike turned Germanic Art Thief, Carissa as a Drama (er a Beauty) Queen and myself as a rich entrepreneur and wine connoisseur. The question of who done it? Well you had to be there in full costume to discover the villain in our night of Mystery, Murder, and a great meal provided by Tony and Sarah Masi. Hey Capadres!
After a crazy inspiration from a munchkin bobblehead, I have decided to start updating again! So what has happended since my last update? Well, Germany, Colorado1, Colorado2, several trips to Long beach where I got to hear Pr. Chuck smith, Buyze the younger's graduation, sickness, Christmas, and Easter! Not to much for the average quarter of a century gal. Any way I thought I would skip to the good stuff and post random pictures... so here we go.

Adventures

Hello All!
Well today I must say I had an adventure. It started yesterday with my thinking, boy I need a hair cut. While diging in my purse, I found a business card for fusion hair salon that had been put on my vehicle while at church. Well, I thought, I may as well try it. I noticed on the card they advertised speaking Spanish. That is pretty cool I thought. When I walked in the hair salon, all I could hear was Spanish. It was pretty crazy. A man named Pedro greeted me and I said something like "uh I need a hair cut." He asked me how I heard about the place and I told him about the business card. He seemed pretty excited and told me about how he had just gotten a new Jeremy camp video. When it was time to actually cut my hair, the woman only knew a bit of english. Talk about scary, we used hand signs to confirm how much I wanted cut off ("just an inch"). I was pretty nervous but Pedro helped in translating. Words like casa, portaro and a bunch of blu, bla bluba were flying around my head. When they were all done, my hair looked great! I could tell the woman was pleased. It was realy neat to get out of my comfort zone and encourage those from another culture living in the U.S. That's about it. Have a great day!

Hello all!

Well I am about to brave my first tropical storm! That is right T.S. Ernesto is on the loose and should start any moment. I have some great picks below. Along with Ernesto, I must say I am blessed. My first new piece of furniture was delivered last weekend. It is a futon which is super soft . Last week I started a modern dance class and joined a Beth Moore study on the book of Daniel! Both the dance lessons and the study were great! Sunday I was definitely challenged to keep working on making friends down here. The pastor preached on accountability and no being islands. When he asked people who can hold you accountable, I could only think of one that didn't live 20+ hours away. Definitely not good. I was encouraged to pray for ways to get involved at church instead of accepting life the way it is. Next weekend (lord willing) I get to come home Yea! I am excited to see everyone and help put on our new roof.

Well I must say it has been a busy couple weeks. Surfing with Liz, visiting Shola and Jessy in Chi Town. I feel so blessed by all the amazing friends and experiences I get to have, yet so unsure of my new life in Florida. I praise God that he is always faithful and dependable! Ola Todos!

Well, it has come to the end of my trip to Brazil . As far as my plane tickets, well God provided and after 300 dollars extra they did let me and all my things on the plane. The highlight of my ticket finding adventure was definitely beeping told I had to find a TAM airline store by 9:00pm in Curitiba when it was already 7:00pm in my apartment. My first attempt was go to a travel agent in Shopping Estacao but on the way up the escalator, I happened to look behind me and see a TAM booth. In my excitement I tried running down the escalator which does not work (point for all you folks back home to remember). Then I ran up the escalator and down the hall to the next escalator much to the exasperation of some of the mall shoppers (don't they know Americans always go running through malls at 8:00 at night). Another highlight was being told by the Delta folks in the U.S. to go to the street Carlos something something to ask them to order paper tickets from Sao Paulo. Right, in a big city like Curitiba I am just supposed to find this place if it even exists and tell them I need tickets for Friday!!!! Ok, so that did not work out so well, but praise God the place ended up being only 3 blocks from my apartment!

On to the rest of my week. Wednesday I had a great fare well pizza night with Aiesec. I really wish I would have spent more time with these guys during the year. They are so great to hang out with. Ah well, live and learn. Thursday was my last day of work so I finished up a stored procedure, had a great chuassco lunch, and bid fare well. My co-workers had a good bye parting in the break room where I was presented with a t-shirt, photo frame, and a book on Curitiba. Aww you guys are so sweet! Friday I got my last two paychecks in Travelers checks (yea!). However, they still would not let me buy more travelers checks with the cash I had saved so I guess the final score is Brazilian Banks 5- Kimberly 2. Ah well, I opened up a bank account here in Florida today so I feel my bank troubles have ebbed to a satisfying end. After getting my last two paychecks, Liz, Victor, and I grabbed lunch at Subway! Then Liz and I watched X-Men III. Humm reminders of home! When I returned to my apartment, I received a message that Ana Luisa had stopped by to say good bye. Aww, I was sorry to have missed her. I guess the poor girl had been hunting me down all day.

Saturday was of course crazy! Ana Luisa called 30 min before I was to leave to ask if she could meet me to say good bye. I told her she was welcome to if she could get here in 30 min. Just as I was going to meet Carol to go to the airport Ana Luisa was downstairs to meet me yea! Then we found out both my bags, Carol, her mom, and I would not fit in the car to take me to the Airport. Carol was totally stressed!!! Jussara was very sweet and offered to take 1/2 my bags in her car. So it was Carol, her mom and I in one car, and Jussara with Ana Luisa in another. Craziness. We made it to the airport on time, and I was able to chat with Gabs, Helena, and Daniel who also came to see me off. Awww.

After an hour delay, I made it on the plane to Sao Paulo. Whop Whop. When I arrived I waited about 20 min for my Brother Shola. After an ecstatic meeting, we went on an adventure to find the Delta ticket office. When we found it, the office was locked so we packed all my stuff in a cab and headed for his apartment. After dropping things off at the apartment we went out for some fare well pizza, and his friend Marcus was very kind to return me to my plane. Pretty much no snags after this. I sat next to Victor who studies Agriculture on the plane. He was pretty cool and I got to use my Portuguese! Finally I arrived here in Florida on Sunday.

Monday, Tuesday and Today have been spent apartment hunting. I will probably post some pics later. I have been blessed with a wonderful apt and lake view. I was able to visit Harris for an introductory tour! There I was told I am no longer a Scientist but a Software Engineer. Ah well, for better or for worse my life dream has been turned into something else. I am super excited to start work and begin learning new technologies and project methodologies.

I need to meet Mike and Liz for dinner so that's all for now. Maybe I will add closing thoughts when I make it to Indiana.
